Who We Are

What started as a trip to support fathers who’ve lost a child has grown into a movement for any man who’s suffered a loss that’s out-of-order.
At our core, we seek to help men get the community, care, and clarity that they need as they grieve, and point them to Jesus along the way.
The Beacon Project exists to help men who are grieving find hope and joy in Jesus.
Rooted in truth
Built on one simple truth: God has not forgotten us. Even in the middle of our grief, our longing, and our trials, God is the one who will sit with us and see it through to the end.

9 What gain has the worker from his toil? 10 I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. 12 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; 13 also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.

OUR FOUNDER
Brian Schindler is the Founder and Executive Director of The Beacon Project.
What started as a trip to bring men together has grown into a non-profit serving men around the country. Brian and his wife, Hannah, live in North Carolina, where they parent 3 boys (2 here and 1 in heaven) with a 4th baby soon coming. Their journey with grief began when their son, Cyrus Stone Schindler, was stillborn on December 19th, 2022. Walking the journey of a life-limiting diagnosis, planning for a funeral they’d never thought they’d even attend, and learning to accept and then embrace the journey God had for their family.
The Beacon Project is our step of obedience to God’s call. To eliminate the isolation that grief brings for men who are forced to understand the distance between here and Heaven far sooner than they thought possible. A growing community, a deep mission, and a heart to bring men around the country and world back into the arms of Christ.
